The Division of Vascular Surgery is looking for an Advanced
Practice Clinician (NP/PA) who is a patient-focused, self-motivated
provider and can work effectively in a team environment with prior
experience in diagnosis, workup and treatment of venous pathology.
Our APCs are valued members of our team and work collaboratively
with the physicians as well as independently. We expect excellent
communication skills and the ability to work well in a team
environment. In addition to working at University of Utah's
outpatient Vein Center candidate will be expected to attend
pertinent continuing education.
The Vascular Surgery group includes 8 faculty surgeons, 2 fellows
that will participate at our outpatient vein center. There is an
expectation for the APC to become increasingly comfortable with
minor procedures and assisting surgeons during office-based
procedures as well as screening and following up patients with
venous pathologies. Procedures include: RFA (radiophrequency
ablation), Varithena, Venaseal, sclerotherapy and Phlebectomies.
When deemed prepared, candidate will be able to have its own venous
clinic.
In addition to the care of our patients, occasionally shared
responsibility for teaching residents, medical students, and APC
students will be expected as is participation in team meetings,
education conferences, and special projects as required.

Responsibilities
1. Assesses the physical condition of a group of patients by
performing physical examinations and obtaining medical
histories
2. Formulates the medical plan and prognosis based on patient's
condition
3. Consults with physician(s) regarding patient health care plans
and treatment
4. Orders, interprets and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify
and assess the patient's clinical problems and health care needs
specifically but not limited: ABIs, Venous USs and CT
venograms.
5. Performs selected invasive procedures for therapeutic and/or
diagnostic reasons within scope of validated competence
6. Initiates and/or recommends medical drug therapies or other
forms of related therapeutic treatment and procedures in accordance
with approved protocols/policy7. Complies with medical records
policies regarding the complete and accurate documentation of
patient care. Initiates and maintains required records and legal
documents8. Active participation in developing and implementing
quality improvement measures9. Counsels' patients, families and
significant others about health and illness and promotes health
maintenance10. Evaluates, plans, implements and re-evaluates the
care of individuals requiring emergency measures11. Sets sterile
field and preps patients for minimally invasive office-based
procedures.12. Works tightly with office staff to keep inventory
and instrumentation up to date.13. Perform sclerotherapy after
proper training and when deemed ready by MD provider.

Work Environment and Level of Frequency that may be required:
Nearly Continuously: Office environment. Often: Infectious disease,

electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, or
exposure to chemicals). Physical Requirements and Level of

listening, talking. Often: Repetitive hand motion (such as typing),
walking, standing, sitting. Seldom: Bending, reaching overhead
Minimum Qualifications
Required
Licensure to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of
Utah.
Preferred
Certification in ACLS/BLS/NRP/ATLS may be required by your
department or by privileging criteria.
Utah State prescriptive privileges.
Licensure is obtained by completing a Master's degree in Nursing or
equivalency (the only equivalency to the Master's degree is current
licensure as a Nurse Practitioner) and a National Certification
which requires the successful completion of a nationally accredited
examination.
UHPPM 1-56 requires that newly hired non-physician providers apply
for credentialing and privileging at the time of hire.
This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated

to CDC standards and hospital policy. Limited exemptions may be
